Arborist Equipment: Why You Should Leave It to the Pros

By: albertaarb - December 19, 2016

When do you call an Arborist and why?

A large tree can destroy a car, split a home in half or even kill someone. Don't forget, a tree looks normal even when sick. The Ash Borer beetle eats a tree from the inside out creating a shell of that tree and this needs to be resolved immediately. If done wrong, a person could lose a limb.

There are many unseen factors when dealing with trees on your property and it is essential to consider your personal safety but also the safety of your home and others, so always speak with a trained arborist before deciding how to prune a tree. At Alberta Arborists, we have helped countless people get rid of trees safely and efficiently, and we can help you, too. Our highly experienced arborists are trained to deal with any tree removal in any location and can ensure no damage is done to your property.

What equipment do you need to remove a tree?

Tree pruning equipment is considered industrial farm equipment and should therefore only be used by trained professionals. When deciding what equipment is right for which job it is important to consider such factors as multiple trunks, internal cavities and the lean of a tree, none of which can be easily interpreted by someone without experience.

There is also specific equipment and personnel needed when dealing with power lines, which will increase the cost, but also increases the risk for an untrained person. Sometimes a cherry picker is needed and this should only be used by someone who has a safety ticket. If the tree in question is near other structures or homes then rope may be needed to lower branches out of the danger zone and again this when to call a professional.

Consider the health of the tree

If the issue is with part of the tree, and the goal is to save the tree, it is imperative to call the professionals because a tree is a living entity and if you cut the tree in the wrong place then the sickness may not be eradicated and will spread faster and will kill faster which means the tree can’t be saved and will cost you more money.
